Why might my pet need this product?

Many of us take a daily multivitamin to ensure we receive a base amount of important vitamins and minerals. A typical diet does not provide a well-balanced source of these nutrients, so we take supplements as “insurance”. The same should go for our pets. According to the Animal Protection Institute (API), “High temperatures used in processed food can destroy natural enzymes and proteins and diminish their nutritional value.”  

But aside from ”insurance” reasons, your furry friend might need a pet vitamin because:

• Many of the vitamins and minerals in packaged dry and canned dog and cat foods are destroyed during processing. Even if they are added back in after the cooking or extruding processes, the vitamins and minerals break down rapidly when exposed to light and air.
• The first bowl of dry food from a bag may contain most of what the label claims, but each time the bag or container is opened the nutrients are affected. It is difficult to know how much, if any, of the vitamins are left by the last portions from the bag.
• Many whole food sources no longer contain the high vitamin content they used to due to depleted soils and modern farming practices.
• Homemade diets or diets high in table scraps should include a high-quality vitamin/mineral supplement
• Ill or recovering pets may have a poor appetite and therefore won’t be receiving their daily requirements through their diets.
• Puppies and kittens need extra support for their developing immune systems and to combat the stress of leaving the safety and familiarity of their mothers while learning to live with a human family.
• Ageing pets have a reduced ability to absorb nutrients.

HOW TO RESTORE VITALITY:

Mix the powder well into your pet’s moist food and make sure it’s all eaten up. Do this every day to prevent vitamin and mineral deficiencies.

Dose puppies according to their current weight and not their final adult size.

You can give half in the morning and half at night if you prefer.

One level scoop equals 2g.

Vitamin A (Retinol)
Has a role in maintaining normal vision, skin, bones and muscles and normal growth processes.

• Is involved in normal reproductive performance.
• Protects and renews the skin, while also helping dogs resist and fight infection.

Vitamin D - (D2 – Ergocalciferol), (D3 - Cholecalciferol) -has a role in the absorption of calcium and phosphorous and in normal growth and health of bones and teeth.

Vitamin E (Tocopherol) is a fat-soluble antioxidant. Vitamin E is particularly important for the protection of cell membranes, as well as keeping the skin, heart and circulation, nerves, muscles and red blood cells healthy.

Vitamin K (Menadione) has a role in maintaining normal blood-clotting processes.

Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid) has a role in maintaining healthy cartilage, tendons and bone.

Vitamin B1 (Thiamin) has a role in the metabolism and maintenance of normal muscle and nerve function and in assisting in the maintenance of normal appetite and body weight.

Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin) is required for normal general metabolism and growth and in maintaining integrity of skin and mucous membranes.

Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine) has a role in normal general metabolism, nervous system function and vision, as well as a role in maintaining normal healthy skin. And, is involved in red blood cell
formation.

Vitamin B12 (Cyanocobalamin) has a role in general metabolism, nervous and reproductive function and in blood cell production.

Folic Acid is involved in general metabolism and the formation of red and white blood cells and haemoglobin.

Pantothenic Acid is needed for health of skin and hair, has a role in normal energy metabolism, reproduction, growth and nerve function and is involved in transmission of nerve impulses.

Biotin has a role in general metabolism and in maintaining integrity of skin, hair and hooves.

Niacin is involved in general metabolism and red blood cell formation and has a role in maintaining normal healthy skin and hair condition.

MINERALS
Copper has a role in iron metabolism, bone development and maintenance of elastic connective tissue.

Iodine has a role in normal thyroid function and is a component of thyroid hormones that regulate metabolic processes including hair growth.

Iron is essential to prevent anaemia and to increase the oxygen supply in the blood especially during exercise. Iron also has a role in maintaining normal metabolism.

Manganese is involved in normal blood clotting. Has a role in general metabolism, development of bone, cartilage and connective tissue, in maintaining normal growth, reproduction and lactation and in recovery after strenuous exercise.

Zinc is important for the skin and to help the reproductive organs function correctly.
Also helps fight infection. Zinc also:

• Has a role in maintaining a normal healthy coat and general growth and metabolism.
• Is important for normal bone and cartilage development.
• Is involved in maintaining the integrity of skin and mucous membranes, hair and hooves and in wound healing.

Fussy eaters

Rufus & Coco Vitality Plus includes flavourings of yeast, full-fat soybean meal and cod liver oil
for high palatabiltity. For very fussy eaters, wipe a small amount of Rufus & Coco Vitality Plus either around the mouth or on the paws for cats. This will encourage the animal to lick it off and become familiar with the smell and taste.
